Committees of the Institute

The Institute operates through the following Committees headed by Directors. All committees offer diverse services such as training, knowledge sharing sessions, seminars, workshops and conferences.

Other services they provide include research, publications, ADR resolution of disputes both under the Act and traditional or customary law

There is a bouquet of training available under these committees and they include:

ADR Committee

Associates training Programme:

This is the preliminary cadre of the Institute the applicants shall be professionals from any discipline and must have at least 5 to 10 years post-graduation experience.
Associates must have participated in the training program appropriate to this cadre. This is a six-day training with respect to all established forms of ADRs and new and emerging forms as well. and the designated acronym is AiADRN

Membership Training Programme

The membership cadre is the middle cadre of the Institute and the designated acronym is MiADRN. To qualify to be a member of the Institute, the applicant:
Shall be a Professional from any discipline and must have at least 11 years post-graduation experience.
Must have undergone the appropriate training scheme of the Institute i-ADRNigeria. – A six-day training with respect to all established forms of ADRs and new and emerging forms as well.

Fellowship training

The Fellowship cadre is the highest cadre of the Institute are designated acronym is FiADRN. To qualify to become a Fellow of the Institute, the applicant .

Shall be a Professional from any discipline and must have at least 20 years post-graduation experience.
Must have written at least 1 Arbitration award
Must have written at least 1 “term of settlement’ from a mediation proceeding
Written an article in any form of ADR Mechanism
Must have undergone the appropriate training scheme of the Institute i-ADRNigeria. A six-day training with respect to all established forms of ADRs and new and emerging forms as well.

Arbitration Training only

The Institute offers four days training in Arbitration alone for the three cadres of the Institute. Associates, Membership and Fellowship.

Mediation Training only

The Institute offers a four days training on Mediation processes alone

Synopsis of all ADR training

Institute offers a 1 day training with regards to all forms of ADRs. A certificate of attendance will be issued at the end of this training

Traditional and Community Mediatio & Arbitration Committee (TCOMA)

Responsible for implementing traditional and customary ADRs. This training is a two days training.

Conflict Management Committee

Responsible for all training and implementation of Conflict Management programs of the Institute. Applicants for the Conflict Management Training must be graduates. And must participate in the two days training.

There are 2 cadres to this training the Member (MiCMN) and the Fellow Cadre (FiCMN).

Affiliations in Funding & Grants Committee

Responsible for interactions with groups (governmental and non-governmental) with which the Institute is affiliated or connected.

Disputes Resolution & Conflict Management

Disputes shall be submitted for resolution and will be resolved either by Arbitration or Mediation Act, 2023.
Disputes shall be submitted for resolution in to be resolved either by Arbitration or mediation applying local customs and tradition.
Parties may submit disputes for resolution as may be provided for in the contracts/ agreement entered into by them
Where there is no specific provision for Arbitration parties may subsequently agree in writing to submit their dispute to the institute Registrar for assignment of Arbitrator(s)
Where there is no specific provision for Mediation parties may subsequently agree in writing to submit their dispute to the institute Registrar for assignment of Mediator
Disputes referred to the institute for resolution shall be addressed to the Registrar who shall notify the Governing Council for appointment of suitable persons from amongst the Panel of Neutrals maintained by the institute.
